Andrew Stockment is an attorney and shareholder with Lenhart Pettit in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he advises businesses and individuals on a variety of matters, with a concentration in the areas of intellectual property and technology, cybersecurity and data privacy, and corporate and business law.
Andrew is active in The Virginia Bar Association and has served in various leadership capacities in the VBA. He currently serves as Immediate Past Chair of the VBA Young Lawyers Division and as a member of the VBA Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law Section Council. Andrew previously served on the VBA Board of Governors and as the YLD Representative to the VBA Law Practice Management Division Executive Council. He was the founding Editor-in-Chief of Opening Statement, the VBA YLD’s national award-winning newsletter.
Before joining Lenhart Pettit, Andrew practiced law at Clement Wheatley in Danville, Virginia. Andrew previously worked for the Danville Circuit Court as the Judicial Law Clerk to the Hon. Joseph W. Milam, Jr. and David A. Melesco. Andrew graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served on the Editorial Board of the Virginia Law Review and the Managing Board of the Virginia Journal of Social Policy & the Law. He was also a PILA Fellow with the Public Interest Law Association. His note, Internet Radio: The Case for a Technology Neutral Royalty Standard, Vol. 95, Virginia Law Review, No. 8, p. 2129 (2009), was published in December 2009. Before starting law school, Andrew worked as a software engineer for the Cerner Corporation for two years. He completed his undergraduate studies at Florida State University, where he earned a degree in Management Information Systems and Political Science and was the President of FSU Habitat for Humanity
Andrew and his wife, Martha, are active members of Trinity Presbyterian Church and enjoy spending time with their daughter, hiking, and watching University of Virginia Men’s Basketball. Andrew’s C.V. is available for download.
